Quality: EX (Master Convert)

Length: 3 hrs (2 DVD)

MSG - 4/23/84 (One of my favorite MSG shows ever. No real reason why - perhaps just because of the timeframe, I dunno. I've got a VHS master convert so VQ is EX.)
Tiger Chung Lee vs Tonga Kid (Tonga is still in his "rookie" phase here, getting wins only over jobbers and not vets like Tiger) Jose Luis Rivera vs Rene Goulet Tito Santana vs JJ Dillon (This was originally supposed to be Santana vs Samoan #1 but somebody in the office did a favor for JJ and brought him in for an I-C title shot. This may just be the most random matchup of all-time - Dillon wasn't even an active wrestler at this point. Heck he wasn't even affiliated with the WWF - he was a manager in Florida! And yet, here he is getting a title shot at the #1 wrestling arena in the world. Good for him, I suppose.) Sgt. Slaughter vs Iron Sheik (Wild brawl that kicks off their 3-match MSG series. Great stuff. I loved this feud as a kid - and still do.) Salvatore Bellomo vs Ron Shaw (Gotta bring the fans back down after the previous match...) Rocky Johnson, Tony Atlas, & Ivan Putski vs Roddy Piper, David Schultz & Paul Orndorff (Man, I hated Piper, Schultz & Orndorff as a kid. Always cheating to win and getting away with it. "If only the ref..." - I was such a mark.) B. Brian Blair vs Samoan #3 (Rare finish here as they go to a ref's decision when the time limit expires. I've seen tens of thousands of matches in my lifetime and, other than matches with ringside judges as a gimmick, I've never seen this finish in any other match.) Velvet McIntyre & Princess Victoria vs Wendi Richter & Peggy Lee (In 3 months, Richter will be the most-popular female wrestler on the planet - arguably, the most popular wrestler, PERIOD. Here though, she's an ass-kicking Texas heel - and she's good at it. I believe this match is 2/3 falls but I have nothing in my notes to confirm that one way or the other.) GREG VALENTINE vs BOB BACKLUND (Great match that sees both guys working over the other to setup their submission holds.)
