TAPE 154

Quality: EX (*MASTER*)

Length: 2.4 hrs (2 DVD)

WWF SHEA STADIUM - 8/9/80 (After years of waiting, it's finally here - a near-complete version of the 1980 version of the WWF's "Showdown at Shea". All we're missing is the Gagne/McGraw match. This is the 24/7 version with Mick Foley and Michael Cole on commentary. While they do very little actual commentating on the matches, they are definitely entertaining, much better than I had feared. I've got a DVD master so VQ is EX.)
Jose Estrada vs Angel Marvilla Dominic DeNucci vs Baron Scicluna (Hey, at least they put these two useless workers together instead of separating them so they could destroy TWO matches.) Tatsumi Fujinami vs Chavo Guerrero Antonio Inoki vs Larry Sharpe Bob Backlund & Pedro Morales vs Samoans (2/3 Falls - Backlund & Morales win WWF World tag titles here though they give them up after since Backlund can't hold two titles at once.) Pat Patterson vs Tor Kamata Fabulous Moolah & Beverly Slade vs Peggy Lee & Kandi Malloy (Mick & Cole on commentary call Moolah "One of the nicest women" which is just hilarious if you know anything about how she treated her trainees. Stealing money, turning them into virtual sex slaves, physical abuse, yeah, that's what a "nice" woman does.) Ken Patera vs Tony Atlas (This match has some video damage to it) Ivan Putski vs Johnny Rodz Rene Goulet vs The Hangman (Cole & Foley rip on this match throughout - rightfully so) Andre the Giant vs Hulk Hogan (Hogan hits a bodyslam but gets pinned despite kicking out at 2; he then nails Andre with a loaded elbow pad) Bruno Sammartino vs Larry Zbyszko (Cage - Famous cage match; during the match, Cole acknowledges Bruno's falling out with the WWF)
