Quality: EX (*MASTER*)

Length: 2.8 hrs (DVD)

PRIDE GP 2004 1ST ROUND - 4/25/04 (This is the first round of Pride's heavyweight tournament. Good stuff, lots of action here. Definitely a must-get for the MMA fan, even if there are no stellar fights. Just plenty of action and a huge, must-see upset. I've got a master convert of the US PPV, so all commentary is in English, and VQ is EX.)
Heath Herring vs Yoshiki Takahashi (Herring looks good here for the first time in 2 years) Murilo Ninja vs Sergei Kharitonov (Ninja gets destroyed) Giant Silva vs Sentoryu (the joke fight of the night) Semmy Schilt vs Gan McGee (Man, how bad do you have to be to be armbarred by Semmy Schilt - a guy with basically no ground skills?) Naoya Ogawa vs Stefan Leko (Rumors of a work have swirled around this one...) Mirko CroCop Filipovic vs Kevin Randleman (Proving that powerful wrestlers with no submission skills, but the ability to throw a punch, should be feared, Randleman takes out CroCop in one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. CroCop get KO'ed - in a hurry.) Antonio Nogueira vs Hirotaka Yokoi Emelianenko Fedor vs Mark Coleman (Fedor & Coleman are very similar fighters in a lot of ways. Both guys have tremendous strength, takedown skills, and like to ground n pound. Where they differ is that Coleman has failed to develop past the lay 'n' pray style of the late 90s and Fedor has submission skills and is a very active fighter. Here, Fedor ends Coleman's hopes of repeating as GP Champion in short order and solidifies his position as the #1 fighter in the world by making Coleman tap out to an armbar.)
