TAPE 408
Quality: EX (1st Gen Convert)
Length: 2.25 hrs (DVD)
UWFI - 11/30/94 (Yawn, just another excellent show from the peak period of UWFI in 1994. This
one features an excellent Albright/Takada match and an outanding Kakihara/Yamazaki match.
I've got a 1st gen convert so quality is EX.)
Chris Mack vs Makoto Oe (kickboxing)
Thomas Burton vs Kenichi Yamamoto
Kazushi Sakuraba vs Yuko Miyato
Hiromitsu Kanehara vs Yoji Anjoh
Billy Scott vs Tatsuo Nakano (Ya know, matches like this are what sometimes frustrates me
about UWFI. They have one guy get killed the whole match until he's one knockdown away
from losing and they make an announcement about that on the PA. Then, 30 seconds later,
the guy who was getting killed all of a sudden slaps on a submission and wins. Bleh.)
Yoshihiro Takayama vs Naoki Sano (Here's to Sano - one of the best workers in the world in
the 90s that NOBODY ever talks about.)
Kiyoshi Tamura vs Dan Severn (Are you a Severn hater? Do you know a Severn hater? If so,
you MUST get this match. Tamura totally squashes Severn, beating him on points like 13
or 14-0 - you lose points when you get knocked down, start at 15, and lose at 0. Tamura
destroys Severn's knee and seems irritated to even be in the ring with Severn, who should
be embarrassed by this performance. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a legit knee
injury coming into this one.)
MASAHITO KAKIHARA VS KAZUO YAMAZAKI (YES! Great match!)
Nobuhiko Takada vs Gary Albright (When people talk about the "Greatest Matches in the
History of UWFI", this one gets brought up a lot. I don't see it that way. It's good,
but it's not even the best match on the card. I'd say it's roughly ***, maybe ***1/2.)
