PRIDE 25 - 3/16/03 (AWESOME show from top-to-bottom. Widely hailed as maybe the greatest Pride show ever! I don't know if I'd go that far, but it certainly is the most consistent in terms of having all good fights on the card, with no clunkers. This is the US version of the show, so all commentary is in English. I've got a master convert so VQ is EX.)
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Kazuhiro Nakamura (Good fight) Alex Stiebling vs Akira Shoji (AWESOME 2nd round - Shoji KOs Stiebling, but they don't stop the fight and Stiebling is able to recover. He then dominates the fight the rest of the way and gets screwed in a bad decision!) Anderson Silva vs Carlos Newton (Oh wow, fabulous KO off a flying knee!) Dan Henderson vs Shungo Ohyama Kazushi Sakuraba vs Nino Schembri (Maybe the biggest upset in MMA history right here. Sakuraba totally dominates Schembri, who has basically no standup skills, but gets overconfident. Schembri then nails Sakuraba with an unintentional headbutt that stuns Sakuraba and a couple quick knees and a soccer kick later, Saku is TKO'ed! Unbelievable, the most improbable result you can imagine!) Quinton Jackson vs Kevin Randleman (Another awesome KO. After the fight, Jackson talks some smack at Vanderlei Silva who comes in the ring and we get a post-fight mess!) ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA VS FEDOR EMELIANENKO (FABULOUS fight. The announcers call this the best heavyweightfight ever, I wouldn't go that far. But it IS great. Fedor is an incredible puncher from the guard, easily the best I've ever seen, ahead of Mark Coleman or anybody else, super destructive. Fedor wins the Pride heavyweight title. Great stuff!)
