PHILADELPHIA SPECTRUM - 9/24/83 (Another little-seen house show from 24/7. Pretty decent show, but would have been nice to have a Muraco/Snuka match as well. Worth having for the better-than-expected Backlund match. I've got a master, so VQ is EX.)
Sal Bellomo vs Butcher Vachon Don Kernodle vs Israel Matea Invaders vs Swede Hanson & Iron Mike Sharpe (Sharpe walks out on his partner; right after that, Hanson gets knocked out of the ring and legit busts open the back of his head on the ring steps - ouch!) Don Muraco vs Jay Strongbow Bob Backlund vs Sgt. Slaughter (Texas Death match - Slaughter is in rare form in this one, bumping all over the place and just generally being great. This one ends like sooooo many Backlund matches with the heel getting screwed. This time, it's Slaughter with his foot on the ropes, much like Superstar Graham when Backlund won the title. I've never understood why the WWF booked Backlund that way - why should a face be getting screwjob victories like that? Makes no sense.) Andre the Giant vs Big John Studd (Cage - Andre slams Studd, then hits him with a butt drop off the top rope) Tiger Chung Lee vs Rene Goulet (Heel vs Heel, though Goulet ends up as a face) Fabulous Moolah & Judy Martin vs Susan Starr & Penny Mitchell Jimmy Snuka, Tito Santana & Rocky Johnson vs Samoans 2 & 3 & Ivan Koloff (Koloff is subbing for Afa, who apparently was ill)
