TAPE 770

Quality: EX (*MASTER*)

Length: 3.25 hrs (2 DVD)

SUPERCLASH I - 9/28/85 (The biggest AWA show ever, bringing in stars from the NWA, World Class, All Japan, and Mexico. It ends up being more historic than good, but well worth owning anyway. I've got a master so VQ is EX but audio is a little low.)
Steve Regal vs Brad Rheingans Sherri Martel vs Candy Devine (Martel wins AWA Women's title) Scott & Bill Irwin & Harley Race vs Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu Little Mr. T vs Little Tokyo (This is for the NWA World Midget title - a title I've never heard of before or since. Tokyo has a title with him though...) Mil Mascaras vs Buddy Roberts (JIP, but not much cut) Kerry Von Erich vs Jimmy Garvin (What does it say about the AWA when the top pop of the evening is for Von Erich, a non-AWA guy?) Nick Bockwinkel, Ray Stevens & Larry Zbyszko vs Curt Hennig, Scott Hall & Greg Gagne (Gagne's got his fatigues on, he's ready for battle, hahahahaha) Road Warriors vs Terry Gordy & Michael Hayes (What is it with the Road Warriors that they can't go over clean in their hometown? They got screwed at Starrcade '87 and they appear to lose their tag titles here before being returned after a review. WTF? Why not give the crowd what it wants?) Ivan & Nikita Koloff & Khrusher Khruschev vs Dick the Bruiser, The Crusher & Baron Von Raschke (The combined age of the Russians' opponents is 8237. You can look it up.) Sgt. Slaughter vs Boris Zhukov (Ironic that these two feuded since Zhukov was Private Jim Nelson, a Slaughter protégé 2 years earlier in Mid-Atlantic.) Jerry Blackweel vs Kamala (Bodyslam match) Rick Martel vs Stan Hansen (Famous brawl that goes into the dugouts at Comiskey; you gotta wonder what Verne was thinking, booking his world title into a match that never starts on the biggest show in his promotion's history AND not putting it on last. That's just stupid. Why not have the two go on last, go 35 minutes and do a double-countout?) Ric Flair vs Magnum TA (Typical, excellent match from Flair in his prime)
